Description:
The unique 5–in–1 system combines remote reboot facilities, environmental monitoring system, power metering, alarm system and security. PLEASE NOTE THE FREE SOFTWARE IS REQUIRED ON A WINDOWS PC TO CONTROL ALL THESE FEATURES.

SPECIAL ORDER PRODUCT

The IPS-IPWRSwitch8 is the only product on the market today, with all this flexibility.
Remote access is very popular today as it not only allows control from different locations but this this saves companies money as your technical personel can cover larger areas and remote locations with no wasting time travelling.

The IPS-IPWRSwitch8ฎ 8 way international power switch enables you to manage and control your company’s power for servers and network equipment remotely from any location in the world. Every power outlet can individually be turned-on, turned-off or rebooted.

SEE FREE WINDOWS MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE AS REQUIRED TO USE MANAGEMENT FEATURES under compatible products.

A wide range of sensors can be connected and used in the system in order to monitor the levels of e.g. temperature, humidity, smoke, water level, dry-contact/deadbolt and others.

The IPS- iPWRSwitch8 monitors and controls the level of power consumption for every single power outlet.

The IPS- iPWRSwitch8 makes it possible to avoid power surges and UPS overloads by controlling power-on and power-off sequences.

Based on sensor values, outlets can be programmed individually to turn the power on and off. Warnings are sent via e-mail or SMS from the IPS Power Management Software.

The IPS- iPWRSwitch8 uses SSL 3.0 encryption. Each Power Switch is configured from the factory with a unique username and password for maximum security.

The IPS Power Management Software configures and controls your power outlets, the Power Switches and their sensors. The software can supervise all installed sensors and react on all events in a predefined way.

THE SUPPLIED FREE SOFTWARE IS REQUIRED TO CONTROL THIS UNIT.

THIS IS CURRENTLY A WINDOWS ONLY BASED SOFTWARE ALTHOUGH FUTURE SUPPORT FOR LINUX IS PLANNED. IT IS ALSO PLANNED FOR THIS PRODUCT TO WORK WITH SNMP BUT THIS IS NOT CURRENTLY OFFERED ON THE SOFTWARE AVAILABLE.

The unique scalability of the IPS- iPWRSwitch8 makes you able to control and manage from eight to more than 60,000 power outlets to your servers and network equipment. Furthermore, you will be able to monitor and manage more than 200.000 individually defined sensors like temperature, humidity, water and smoke. 30 sensors can be connected to each iPWRSwitch8.

With a 16A inlet. This means that you can now use the unit with even more power consuming units. The unit can still use up to 10A per outlet

The IPS- iPWRSwitch8 is easily connected to and installed in the network via TCP/IP. When extending with more Power Switches you simply plug them into the network with their own IP address.

Easy accessible interface allows integration into other systems via SOAP / API.

The processor capacity of the IPS- iPWRSwitch8 is strongly dimensioned from the origin, making it possible to upgrade with extended functionality and intelligence in future versions of the IPS- Power Management software.

One White Paper report on general power issues:

Energy costs are next big IT issue Pull the plug on waste, says Gartner. Rodney Gedda, Computerworld Today 21 June 2006 The power consumed by IT systems is set to become a major issue, analyst Gartner has predicted. Steve Prentice, research VP at Gartner, said IT was uniquely positioned to confront increasing energy costs as the technology is one of the largest consumers of power within organisations. "You cannot keep it a secret," Prentice said. "Performance-per-watt will become critical over next decade," he said. During his keynote address at this year's Gartner Data Center Summit in Sydney, Prentice said that as hardware prices continued to fall and power costs continued to rise, heat generation would become a problem when organisations took advantage of commodity hardware. "The requirement for modern hardware is going to be huge [and] for every watt that goes into a processor you will use another watt to cool it," he said, adding vendors' promotion of low-power consumption products is indicative of this trend. Prentice cited the Barcelona Supercomputer Center's 4800-processor cluster as an example of the scale of power consumption by computers. Reports have it that 75 percent of the university's electricity is being consumed by the supercomputer. Seeking low-power alternatives is not the only way to reduce energy consumption, as virtualisation technology emerges to provide better utilization. With typical utilisation rates of 10 percent, Prentice was blunt in describing the amount of capacity being wasted. "Of the computing power you buy, you are throwing away 90 percent," he said, adding that with increased virtualisation, utilisation levels will climb to 30 percent. "Virtualisation is nothing new [but] it's a critical tech that opens a path to automation." Virtualisation will also herald the ability to reconfigure virtual servers to suit applications, resulting in big performance improvements.
