Hyper-convergence (hyperconvergence) is a type of infrastructure system with a software-centric architecture that tightly integrates computer, storage, networking and virtualization resources and other technologies from scratch in a commodity hardware box supported by a single vendor.

Features:
1. Hyper-Converged (Hyper Convergence) is the combination of Server and SAN in one box.

2. No more 5 year planning of storage array. Hyper converged devices can be added as and when customers need more storage on the fly.

3. No more taking the SAN down for 24/48 hours and wondering if it will come back up.

4. It was primarily designed for the High Availability of data.

5. Key Point. Reduced latency: Disks & hardware in the same box. IE access is faster than SAN.

6. The solution involves software to replace the SAN infrastructure: IE cables, switches & controllers.

7. The new device uses Enterprise SSD for high frequency data & STD drives for low frequency data.
